“Tell us about a favorite character from film, theater, or literature, with whom you’d like to have a heart-to-heart. What would you talk about?” –Plinky.com
I would choose Pinocchio. I would like to ask him a few questions.
- If he’d be given a chance to choose his father, would he still choose Geppetto? Why and why not?
- When he was inside the shark’s belly with Geppetto, what did he think before deciding on what to do to save them both? Did he ever think of what might Geppetto feel when he lies about how he does not love Geppetto and wished he wasn’t his father?
- What did he feel while saying all those lies inside the shark’s belly?
- And lastly, if he could have his story re-written all over again, what is it going to be?
I loved that chapter. It was so touching. I can imagine how it feels to be told by somebody you thought loved you, that they hate you and doesn’t want you in their life. I could imagine how Geppetto felt while Pinocchio was saying “I don’t love you! I regret that you are my father!” — all these lies just to save the both of them.
If I could have a heart-to-heart talk with Pinocchio, I would tell him that I want to hear his story from his words. It would be nice to hear the story from himself than just read the book or watch its movie — all feelings, no pretenses, no lies.
